  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Gin Spaulding -- Can Nerds and Bullies Work Together Despite Their Differences? : Wow! What an exciting, well-written, intriguing, imaginative book! Tasha Madison really understands today's youth, and it shows! The main character, Arnie, finds himself kinda lost after high school, despite his high intellect. His parents arrange for him to work at his uncle's company. To Arnie's surprise, he has to work in the mailroom. Of course, his ego is bruised, and to add insult to injury, he has to work with his biggest bully from HIGH School who makes moves on Arnie's crush! Arnie ends up having to work with his old bully solve a mystery. Will they solve it together or will the whole plan fall apart? Read The Pen Thief and the Orbit of Uncertainty to find out! • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sandra Duclos -- Captivating and suspenseful! : When an unlikely trio of young adults team up to solve an inconceivable mystery, they take you on a wild ride of suspense, magic, and intrigue. The Pen Thief and the Orbit of Uncertainty, author Tasha Madison’s latest offering in YA fiction, is well-written and engaging. The dialogue is authentic, the characters are believable, and you find yourself unable to put the book down. I read it in two days. It’s modern, exciting, and Ms. Madison doesn’t “dumb down” her writing because it’s geared to a young adult audience; she respects her readers. Important social issues and life lessons are woven into the storyline without sounding preachy, and the author’s sense of humor shines through when she includes a few chuckles to lighten the tension. I can’t imagine any teen or young adult not enjoying this captivating read. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from gnjames -- Captivating and engaging! : Wow, what an exciting story of an unlikely group of "friends" coming together. The nerd, the athlete, and the rich girl all unite to solve the mystery of a magical gift. It's not only entertaining but also educational. The language is perspicacious (yea, I had to use a thesaurus for that one), which fits perfectly for the intellectual ninja main character. I felt like I was "in" the story as it unfolded on the pages. Definitely recommend this book for any age, not just young adult. A well-written page-turner. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from bmont -- Wonderful Adventure : This book is about a young man who has an adventure. It is the beginning of a heroes journey and it is a page turner. I wasn't sure I would enjoy it as much as I did because I am 76 years old and the book is about the antics of young people barely out of their teens. However, it has magic in it and I love magic. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Fred Lit Yu -- Excellent read : What a mesmerizing read. The Pen Thief and the Orbit of Uncertainty follows the adventures of Arnie, a nerdy teenager who encounters a magical pen. Strange things begin to happen to him, he is being followed, and he starts to doubt the person he trusts the most. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Vivian L. King -- Tasha Madison's Imagination is Limitless : I was captivated by Arnie Schmidt from the very beginning of this story, most likely because despite becoming a journalist, math was my favorite subject. As Arnie broke down the room by numbers, I couldn't wait to see where the direction of this story was going. I was enthralled at the mystery that needed to be solved because another favorite of mine as a teen reader was a good mystery. This definitely would have been on my shelf back in my teenage years. Tasha Madison is a gift to Young Adult readers of today. Bravo! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Nicki Phillips -- The Pen Thief and the Orbit of Uncertainty Rocks! : Tasha Madison’s The Pen Thief is a smart, entertaining story. Her clever use of words brings the scenes to life, and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next! This is a fun, intriguing page turner…a must-read for teens and adults! And I hope there is a sequel! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2021 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Books in the Skye -- Review : Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. The beginning was a little confusing on how the story would proceed but I immediately clicked with Arnie so my interest was piqued. However, as soon as the plot got going, I couldn’t put this book down. I had so much fun reading this and it was so enjoyable. One of my favorite aspects of the books were the corny jokes inside. I am a huge fan of twist on word jokes and there was plenty to keep me laughing. What I really liked about this book was how Arnie was really finding himself, outside of high school. Not everyone develops their own self awareness during those years, and it was definitely a refreshing take. The beginning of the book was very enjoyable as the characters and their personalities were developed but it did take a bit for the plot to actually get going. There were a couple of hard point of view changes as well that threw off the pacing for me initially. Towards the end of the book, they didn’t feel so abrupt so it was easier to navigate. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Nachtwunsch -- An engrossing and promising book : The first in an exciting trilogy, "The Pen Thief and the Orbit of Uncertainty" is a coming-of-age story. Here, we meet a mixed assortment of protagonists, where each reader is sure to find one that they relate to strongly (Kayley struck me as the most relatable). • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Dawn B Thomas -- Captivating read : The book caught my attention from the beginning. The descriptive language used enhanced the book. I liked the storyline. A good read for adult or youth. ( Reviewed in Canada on October 7, 2021 )
