After Hurricane Sandy hit NJ and we lost power for 10 days; I realized how unprepared I was. Yes I prepped. But not well enough and my mind ran away from me when fear set in after day 3 of no heat, no electric and no end to the situation in sight. We had no power or resources anywhere. Being as small as it is it can't truly cover all those points in great depth. I would say it's biggest asset is that it can get a person to thinking. Has super practical advise for all members of the family and small enough to be carried in a backpack. If you are buying just one book on this subject, get this one. The book is definitely not your run-of-the-mill pop-culture survival guide. It's actually intended to help you understand real threats to survival, and how to plan and counter those threats. Real world scenarios and action plans for how to survive, even something as seemingly trivial as losing power for a week, which can actually become quite devastating to a community that is unprepared.
